Castles of Vojvodina
Grand ePanoramic tour
Feel Serbia – Feel Belgrade
Castles of Vojvodina. Castles were once intended for occasional or permanent stay (holiday and entertainment) of richer and richer social layers. These magnificent buildings were built in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, reflecting the brilliance and power of those times and their owners. Most were built after the departure of the Turks from these parts and since the Austro-Hungarian monarchy occupied the territory north of the Sava and the Danube in the late 18th and 19th centuries.
At that time, a civilian stock and small nobility are emerging, and thus large spahic estates on which nothing big these buildings. People quickly took the step of living in the monarchy, sent children to schools, wealthier citizens gained noble titles and prestige and began to live just like the Austrian nobility – which meant that they had houses similar to theirs. Over seventy castles are located in Vojvodina, some of them declared to be cultural property, and some have been turned into hotels.
